Former Kentucky Wildcats center Nerlens Noel has signed with the Detroit Pistons, the team announced Monday. Noel, 30, has played for the Philadelphia 76ers, Dallas Mavericks, Oklahoma City Thunder, and New York Knicks in his career. He has averaged 7.4 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 1.9 blocks per game.

Noel was drafted by the 76ers with the sixth overall pick in the 2013 NBA draft. He was a key member of the 76ers team that reached the Eastern Conference semifinals in 2016. Noel was traded to the Mavericks in 2017 and then to the Thunder in 2018. He signed with the Knicks in 2019 and played for the team for two seasons before signing with the Pistons.

Noel is a versatile defender who can guard multiple positions. He is also a good rebounder and shot-blocker. He is expected to play a key role for the Pistons this season.
