DHCP Feature Updates in Windows 10
Enhanced Client-Side Capabilities
Windows 10 introduces substantial enhancements to the Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) client-side functionality. These updates aim to improve network connectivity, streamline device management, and enhance security for Windows devices.
Vendor Class Identifier
One of the key changes is the implementation of a vendor class identifier (VCI) in the DHCP request. Previously, most devices would simply include "MSFT 50" as their VCI. However, with Windows 10, devices can now specify more specific VCIs, such as "MSFT 50 XBOX" for Xbox devices.
