A Legacy of Artistic Education

The Royal Academy of Art The Hague (KABK) holds a distinguished place in the realm of art and design education, with its roots tracing back to 1682. The institution's rich history has been marked by collaborations and mergers that have shaped its current identity.

Mergers and Partnerships

In 1989, the Royal Academy of Art merged with the MTS for Photography and Photonics, consolidating expertise in both disciplines. Subsequently, the institution joined forces with the Royal Conservatory The Hague to form the University of the Arts The Hague. This union has fostered interdisciplinary collaborations and expanded the educational offerings of all three institutions.
