Nerlens Noel Signs 10-Day Deal with Brooklyn Nets

Free Agent Center Returns to NBA

Noel, a former Kentucky standout, began the season with the Sacramento Kings.

BROOKLYN, N.Y. - The Brooklyn Nets have signed center Nerlens Noel to a 10-day contract, the team announced Saturday. The 29-year-old veteran is a free agent after being waived by the Sacramento Kings earlier this month.

Noel, a 6'11", 220-pound big man, brings experience and versatility to the Nets' frontcourt. He has averaged 9.3 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 2.2 blocks per game during his nine seasons in the NBA.

The Nets are in need of depth at the center position after Kevin Durant was traded to the Phoenix Suns and Nicolas Claxton went down with a hamstring injury. Noel is expected to provide backup minutes behind Claxton and Day'Ron Sharpe.

Noel's signing comes at a time when the Nets are struggling to find their footing after a disappointing start to the season. The team is currently 10-11 and in 10th place in the Eastern Conference. However, the Nets are hoping that Noel's experience and toughness can help them turn things around.
