Monaco Grand Prix: Three-car crash on race start triggers immediate red flag

Three cars involved in major incident on the opening lap of Formula One's showcase Monaco Grand Prix

Red Bull's Sergio Perez and the two Haas cars eliminated from the race, with the race halted and a red flag deployed

The 2024 Monaco Grand Prix has been stopped after barely half a lap due to a huge crash involving Sergio Perez, Kevin Magnussen, and Nico Hulkenberg.

The incident occurred on the run down to the first corner, Sainte Devote, with Perez's Red Bull car colliding with the Haas of Magnussen, sending both cars into the barriers.

Hulkenberg's Haas was also caught up in the collision, with all three drivers forced to retire from the race.

The race was immediately red-flagged, with the safety car deployed to allow for the wreckage to be cleared.

The incident is a major blow to Perez's title hopes, with the Mexican driver now 25 points behind championship leader Charles Leclerc.

The race is set to resume once the track has been cleared and the cars have been repaired.
